THUNDER ON THE HILL TO DISTRIBUTE APPRECIATION PAYOUT TO MODIFIED & SPORTSMAN TEAMS

For 27 years, the partners and staff at the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series have worked to provide an environment that’s fair for the fans, teams and competitors. The weather this racing season has been disappointing and we appreciate the efforts made by everyone to attend last night’s event. Amidst the action last night, a decision was made to void the show completely, in an effort to stay true to the fans and provide them the guarantee of getting a full racing program for their hard-earned money.
After a disappointing Thunder on the Hill Racing Series rain out on Sunday, the Series promotional team came up with an appreciation payout to the teams that qualified prior to the rain that forced the cancelation of the Triple Thunder Thriller event at Grandview.

The best efforts were in place with the track crew having a finely prepared speedway ready to go with heat races starting at 7:15. The modified and sportsman heats ran off quickly but then the rain moved in and stayed throughout the night.

The promotional team worked today to create a plan to show our appreciation to the teams that competed in qualifying events Sunday night.
The racing event was cancelled but it was not considered a completed show. For the all-important race fans, their rain checks will be honored at face value ($25 adults, $10 children) for the next two Thunder on the Hill Racing events.

For our drivers and owners, who worked with us to keep the show moving, we greatly appreciate their support and want to thank them in a very special way. All pit wrist bands will be honored at ANY of the remaining Thunder on the Hill events in 2016. For the modified competitors who qualified in their heat races, they will receive $200 and non-qualified competitors will receive $100. This appreciation payout will be distributed to the modifieds who support the June 7 USAC and Modified doubleheader. The payout will take place at the draw at the beginning of the night.

For our sportsman competitors, all qualified cars will receive $75 and non-qualified drivers will receive $35. The sportsman payout will take place when the sportsman return to Thunder on the Hill on Thursday night, July 14. Payout will again take place during the draw at the beginning of the night.

This is a gesture of appreciation to our competitors who came to support the event and due to weather, only ran their heat race.
