READING, PA December 7, 2025 . . . . . .. The 19th Annual USAC Amsoil Eastern Storm will again return to Pennsylvania and New Jersey in 2026 under the Levan Machine & Truck Equipment banner. Brian Levan, President and CEO for Levan Machine & Truck Equipment is well known on the local racing scene and recognized for running a very successful business in Berks County. Levan Machine & Truck Equipment took on the role as the Eastern Storm sponsor last year and looks forward to being part of the tour in the coming 2026 season.

Brian Levan looks to expand awareness and grow the popularity of the USAC Eastern Storm as well as his business through additional advertising on Flo Racing, and listen for radio ads on WIOV-FM and WSOX-FM the entire week of the Eastern Storm. And for the drivers who compete in the Eastern Storm, expect a $10,000 point fund with $5,000 going to the 2026 Eastern Storm Champion. More to come including some race night activities include possible USAC driver Meet & Greets at various tracks.

The Levan Machine & Truck Equipment Eastern Storm of 2026 will again open at the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night, June 16 as part of the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. The Eastern Storm will move to the Bridgeport Speedway on Wednesday night, June 17 followed by stops at the Big Diamond Raceway Thursday night, June 18, Williams Grove Speedway Friday night, June 19, Port Royal Speedway Saturday night, June 20 and the Series will close at the Action Track USA on Sunday night, June 21.

The Eastern Storm was created by Grandview Speedway Track Owner Bruce Rogers and Special events organizer Bob Miller. In 2006 Miller met with USAC at the Lawrenceburg Speedway to offer the idea of bringing USAC back East. The Berks County tradition of USAC racing goes back to 1956 when Oley, PA driver Tommy Hinnershitz won the inaugural USAC event at the Reading Fairgrounds. Hinnershitz won the USAC event again in 1957 and 1958.

The USAC history at Reading continued until 1979 when the track closed. The roster of USAC winners at Reading is legendary and to name just a few who join Hinnershitz on the win list include A.J. Foyt, Johnny Thomson, Eddie Sachs, Jim Hurtibise, Roger McCluskey, Bobby Unser, Johnny Rutherford, Red Riegel, Greg Weld, Bruce Walkup, Larry Dickson, Gary Bettenhausen, Toby Tobias, Pancho Carter, Larry “Boom Boom” Cannon, Lee Osborne and Ronnie Shuman. Paul Pitzer won the USAC finale at Reading in 1979.

Twenty-eight years later, the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series re-introduced USAC non-wing sprint car racing to Berks and other surrounding counties with the birth of the USAC Eastern Storm in 2007. The Series opened at the one-third mile Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA. The USAC Eastern Storm has been growing in this area ever since that first race.
