EASTERN MUSEUM OF MOTOR RACING TO BE PART OF USAC EASTERN STORM $10,000 TO WIN OPENER AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY TUESDAY, JUNE 11

BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 5, 2019 . . . . . . It’s a great night for the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (EMMR) to visit the Grandview Speedway and it all happens on Tuesday night, June 11 when the AMSOIL USAC Eastern Storm invades the Grandview Speedway for the opening night of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill 30th Anniversary Season. The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing is located at 100 Baltimore Road in York Springs, PA and it’s a must see activity for any race fan. In 1975 the EMMR was started by the Williams Grove Old Timers who had a mission to preserve racing history of the bygone era.

The EMMR was built on a hillside overlooking the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds and Race Track in York Springs. With the race track nearby, there is an absolute magical atmosphere that makes the EMMR a “living museum”. Filled with race cars, photographs and racing memorabilia, you will be transferred back in time to relive memories of the fond days of old. The EMMR is where vintage race cars, friends and family, fans and competitors alike reunite to reminisce about the glory days of yesterday.

The EMMR will have at least two restored Weikert Livestock sprint cars on display at Grandview on Tuesday night, June 11 and you are invited to meet the folks from the museum and chat about racings past memories. The EMMR will be located in the first turn grandstand area from 5 to 7 PM with interviews going on from 6 PM to 6:45 PM. Enjoy the memories and become a member of the EMMR and help preserve racing history.

After your trip down memory lane, hold on to your seat as the AMSOIL Non-Wing USAC Sprints take to the one-third mile Grandview Speedway. Time trials and qualifying events will lead up to the 40 lap $10,000 to win Jesse Hockett Classic. Also on the program will be the NASCAR 358 Modifieds also taking part in qualifying events, leading up to a $3,000 to win 30 lap feature. Gates open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM.

Advance tickets may be ordered for the Tuesday, June 11 USAC Sprints & Modified show by calling 443 513 4456. Please speak slowly and clearly when leaving a message and be sure to leave your name and number of tickets you will need. Feel free to leave your phone number as well. Tickets may be paid for and picked up at the WILL CALL Window on race night after 3:30 PM. These tickets will entitle you to enter the grandstands at 4:30. Adult admission tickets are $30, children 6 to 11 $10 and children five and under will be admitted for free.

This event is dedicated a “classic event” to honor all-time sprint car great Jesse Hockett. Many us remember that special night on the hill, when Jesse won both twin 20 lap USAC features, thrilling the Grandview fans in 2009. In 2010, just prior to the Eastern Storm, Hockett succumbed to injuries suffered in a race shop accident. Levi Jones won the first Jesse Hockett Classic in 2010.

The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series is sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts, Levan Machine and Truck Equipment, and Galco Business Communications.
